RE: jcapps 5000 and counting

Hi gang. Just got back from the hospital and I have a good report. Ron is awake and alert, although can not talk. We did communicate some with hand signals and an alphabet board that Cathy made. He is still on the ventilator but in a "help" mode rather than total life sustaining. He is also still in the ICU and we will know Friday when they unhook the ventilator whether his change for the better is permanent. It appears to be something of a miracle. Jim

RE: Dan Gamel closes many dealerships

Yes, it is a sale to insiders of the origional corporation. That allows them to recapitalize the venture. It gives them better tax leverage by establishing a new basis for depreciation which is deducted from the income, and therefore a tax reduction. Sounds like they are going to franchise to extend the brand name. Smart business move, done every day by US corporations, to get the best return on investment, by paying less taxes. You need to read the articles again. The second link, talking about a sale, dates back to 2005. Sounds like he might have sold it a few years back and had to step back in. The first article is recent and is talking about liquidation. You usually don't liquidate a profitable operation and all the tax avoidance in the world doesn't help unless you have a profit to avoid taxes on. Correct on all counts

RE: Toad covers or protectors

I have used both the full length factory mud flap and the Protect-a-Tow. Neither does a complete job of stopping the dings.

Hi gang. I visited Geezer2 at the hospital this a.m. He was never released after his cancer surgery and is in the ICU getting treatment that involves repacing his blood completely 6 times. The final treatment will be next Thursday and if there is no improvement at that time they will pull the plug. He is on a respirator and sedated so has no ability to communicate. Both he and Cathy (Therine) could probably use a prayer. Jim

I quit with the aid of commit lozenges. I think it will take something more like the Marine Corps for Aida.:B

I'm not concerned. I am just sick of the smoke. Me too. Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to get Aida to quit.:R

The smoke is killer. We were at Lake Don Pedro over the 4th and there was not a sign of the smoke. Just lucky I think.

As fires go, 11 miles is quite a bit. Is it toward Tahoe or I-80 from you?

RE: ROADMASTER TOW BRACKETS

Sorry to take so long getting back here folks. The brackets were bent badly on my arrival at Island Park Idaho. I called Thursday morning when they opened and sent photos, was assured by DeAnna that a tech would call me shortly. Tech never called. Friday morning I called again and was assured a tech would call back. NO call. Called late Friday and asked how long I should expect to wait, was told a tech would call.Took the brackets into a welding shop in West Yellowstone and had them weld a third gusset on each bracket for more strength. Called monday twice and was told a tech would call, and he did, asked me to send pictures. I told him I already did. He said he would investigate. No call back that day. Tuesday afternoon Jack called and said he needed more pictures, by then already on the road to AZ. He also said I should not expect anything to happen on a Thursday, Friday or Monday as this is their busy season. On arrival in Az Wednesday I had to leave the next morning for CA. so installed the brackets from my previous 02 Tahoe and away I went. It appears the original brackets were built with soft steel. There was no bolt failure or loosening.

RE: jcapps 5000 and counting

Thanks for caring gang. Ron has been released from the hospital but does not have all his faculties, I suppose from anti seizure medication. We are still sorting out the situation. His truck and tt are totalled. JT has 19 stitches from glass cuts and Billy is bruised but nothing broken. I'll try and keep you updated. Jim

ROADMASTER TOW BRACKETS

I am currently on a first trip towing my 08 Silverado HD. The Roadmaster tow brackets have failed and Roadmaster has yet to call me back about the problem. It has been 3 full days plus the weekend. I both called them and sent them pictures via e-mail last thursday early a.m. but alas, no response. This is my fourth set of Roadmaster brackets on 4 different vehicles, and I guess my last.

RE: Is 3 pt or 4 pt leveling jacks better?

I'm only on my 10th motorhome but have had both. A little more rocking when entering or exiting with the 3 point, but less chance of frame torqueing. With the 3 jack system there will be larger pistons than 4 jack systems for the same weight. This would be one of the last things I give consideration to when buying a coach, but, different strokes for different folks :B
